The State of Yucatan is one of the poorer states on Mexico at the Southeast region. It is necessary to describe and to analyze governmental politics, programs and actions that can achieve a way to re-design and knockdown the problems that affect vulnerable groups and the Damages to the natural, social and cultural environment they are immersed on the municipalities and the Cost of Peninsule of Yucatán, Mexico.
The State of Yucatan is highly vulnerable to hazardous chemicals, consequence of productive activities on agricultural and industries, karstic soils and deforestation process that allows an easy filtration of these substances to the groundwater layer (pesticides, pharmacological compounds, heavy metals, microorganisms from feces, nitrates and other contaminants), generating a high impact on Public Health and Ecosystems. In like manner the population of the localities are on a territorial dispersion which makes it more difficult to have access to rural schools, health services, a water-drinking of good quality, among others.
Another particular situation on the state is the profile on the public health damages. The first places are: childhood malnutrition, obesity, congenital malformation, maternal child and fetal death, suicides, alcoholism, migration and deaths by cervical and breast cancer both avoidable. This range of adversities are the concern of the members on this organization. We think that the water quality play a important role for this diseases and mortality.
In the other hand, the population have a very low risk perception about the pollutants water pollution process, such as well the risk of the climate change, alltogether can be of the high impact to the ecosystems and the public health. Itis of our interest also to contribute in promotion healt programs and the ecosystem conservation.
It is expected that the efforts that we develop contribute in the generation of knowledge and experience that creates a sitting ground for the design of public policies oriented on the achievement of commonwealth, health and environmental conservation.
